I picked this picture in particular to showcase Gatsby with. I really like the kind of distance that is shown between the island, we as the observer seem to inhabit, and the island across the body of water. I think this showcases the difference nicely along with somewhat carrying the difference between the two masses of land, because on one hand while the observers may not look shabby; it almost always looks better on the other side. We can see sailing ships and more houses and I think this type of division and distinction, while subtle, was evident in the Great Gatsby. Third Wall
